More than vocabulary and grammar

Learning English and Chinese takes more than vocabulary and grammar. Students need time to discuss what they read, explore ideas, organise their thoughts and practise different forms of writing.

Your interests belong in the lesson

Students also need room to share what interests them. A conversation that seems unrelated to the lesson can help me connect a student’s passions to what they need to learn. Making those connections is part of my teaching: it helps students take an interest in their work and become more willing to tackle challenges.

Ideas need help becoming paragraphs

One hour a week per language often leaves too little time for discussion, writing practice and feedback. A student may have plenty of ideas but need help turning them into clear, well-developed paragraphs.

Time to try, discuss and improve

Longer lessons give us time to brainstorm, plan, write and make improvements together. They also give me time to understand how each student learns and what support helps them.

Keep curiosity alive

My aim is to give students enough guided practice to build the skills their curriculum expects, while keeping their curiosity alive.

Your course cycle

What your four-week cycle includes

Each four-week course cycle covers one-to-one lessons, preparation, personalised learning resources and feedback. Fees vary by year group.

Support when it is needed

Students have at least one two-hour lesson each week. When they need more support, this may include:

An additional two-hour lesson.
A personalised video explaining a task or working through an example.
Extra practice and written feedback.

One lesson or two. The same fee.

The fee stays the same whether your child has one or two two-hour lessons in a week.

Teaching continues beyond the lesson

Good teaching takes time before, during and after a lesson. A week with fewer lessons may involve more time preparing explanations, videos and feedback. Sometimes, students need another lesson to put that advice into practice with guidance.

More support, without another payment

The fixed fee allows me to adjust that support without asking parents to arrange extra payments each time more teaching time is needed.

A way to catch up

Video guidance is available to help students catch up. If they still need help understanding the work after watching it, I will provide additional lesson support within the course arrangement.
